Within a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, the aim is
- to
progress GT researchers and PhD researchers the next stage of your study;
- to help
you to conceptualise your data;
- to
inspire and empower you as a GT researcher;
- to offer
you the opportunity to learn from PhD researchers and others
- to
visualise where you are heading and to show you that people just like you
have got there too, and
- most
importantly to introduce you to the network of Grounded Theorists who just
love talking Grounded Theory!
There are places a limited number of places for active participants and you are encouraged to bring your
work for the ‘trouble shooting’ seminar.
This should include hardcopies of data (e.g. field notes/transcripts of
interviews or observations) or memos related to the specific issue that you
wish to have addressed during the seminar.
You should select 1-3 pages of information and make at least 25 copies
available for distribution to other participants.
There are also limited numbers of places for observers. As an observer you will not have the opportunity
to have issues related to your specific study addressed in session but you will
learn by being immersed in GT methodology and by observing the troubleshooting
of other GT studies. It also offers an excellent learning opportunity for those
who are considering using Grounded Theory and have yet to start their study.
Also, it may be of interest to faculty members and PhD supervisors in
particular.
To apply for a place as a
troubleshootee, please email Dr. A. Lowe at globalnomad999@gmail.com telling me
something about your interest in GT and answering as many of the following
questions as are relevant:
- What is
your current status e.g. PhD researcher?
- What is
the area/focus of your research?
- Where
are you in the Grounded Theory process?
- Have you
identified your core category? If so please elaborate.
- What
would you like help with/feedback on from the seminar?
- Which
Grounded Theory books have you read?
- Are you
using Grounded Theory?
Please note that we will be looking for a mix of types of studies and stages
of research and so if you are unsuccessful in gaining a place it will be no
reflection on your work.
To apply for a place as an
observer, please email Dr. Andy Lowe at globalnomad999@gmail.com telling me
something about your interest in GT and answering as many of the questions
below as are relevant:
1. What is your current status
(e.g. PhD researcher)?
2. If you are not conducting a
study what is your interest in Grounded Theory? Or if you are conducting a GT
study please also tell us something about your study.
3. What would you like to
learn from the seminar?
