Graham's PhD title is "THE INTEGRATIONAND MOTIVATION OF EASTERN EUROPEAN WORKERS INTO BRITISH MANUFACTURING"
Graham obtained his MBA atWrexham Business School, NEWI in 2007 studying alongside Dr. Binsardi and Mike Green andbrought a new and energised perspective to business at the school through his vast commercial experience. A post graduate from Bradford Business school and other institutions have given him great empathy with fellow students who wish to progress in business and is always available to offer help and guidance despite his busy schedules.
Graham is currently Chairman of 4 companies and a non-executive Director of several others, the research work he is doing at Glyndwr University emanates from his main role as Chairman of KK FineFoods plcbased in Deeside where he employs 200 workers the majority of whom are from Eastern Europe( http://www.kkfinefoods.com ).
It may be necessary for companies to employ migrant workers in order to develop further into effective and profitable units for the next stages of their growth. The EU now has 27 countries in its membership and expanded into the largest consumer market in the world with over 500 million people. As this market is free from trade barriers and allows the complete mobility of its people a new form on inter-cultural and inter-nationalism is being introduced to the corporate sector. Most of the research being done into migration is centred around the socio-economic affects of migration but with the corporate sector being the prime economic driver in terms of reward and performance a great deal of interest is being shown in his work. Several prestigious International conferences have been enthralled by his challenges to the socio-academic thinking on the theories and aspects of the integration and motivation of migrant workers. Having introduced 23 companies to various Stock Exchanges, there is a sense of open reality to his writings and presentations.
Governments and communities are rightly addressing different issues on the subject but they have to be cognisant of the needs of the corporations who are employing the migrants. This new source of labour has to be part of strategies necessary to satisfy corporate and shareholder objectives in the market place along with other commercial stakeholders. Management teams have to be built which are both enthusiastic and sympathetic to the aspirational needs of these new workers who will have arrived with a wide variety of skills and knowledge that has to be harnessed to be effective. Rewards and performance led productivity has to be accepted and understood by all parties in the company. The migrant workers will also have to work at integrating themselves into corporations as the many different cultures will bring in additional challenges and responsibilities for managements to address and resolve. This complex area is a new extension to the science of Business Management as it enraptures all aspects of business but from a different perspective brought about by globalisation and the opening of Europe.
